Extreme winter and difficult working conditions, this is construction site of 884 MW Suki kinari hydropower project. In Cold and icy weather, the construction activities were never stopped to deliver the one of the “Early Harvest” project being developed under CPEC
Suki Kinari Hydropower Project, located in Kaghan valley of Khyber Pakhtukhwa. It is a diversion-type Hydropower Project featuring high head and long tunnel. The dam and the power intake stand near Andherabela Village along the bank of Kunhar River, keeping 256km from Islamabad at the altitude of 2,409 meters. Due to the high altitude, the weather remains comfortable in summer and severe cold in winter and Mercury level drops which freezes everything.
China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC) started working on it in December 2016, and will be completed by 2022.
The project is part of the Early Harvest projects of CPEC and is expected to add a sizable 884MW to the power sector of Pakistan.
The estimated cost of the project is USD billion, expected to generate billion MW.
